Here's what you'll need:
- Your login details for Portal das Finanças.
- The NIF (Tax Identification Number) of the fiscal representative you wish to appoint.
Accessing Portal das Finanças:
1. Go to https://www.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/
2. Locate and click on the "Sign In" button located at the top right corner of the page.

3. Select the "NIF" tab.
4. Input your NIF (Tax Identification Number).
5. Input your password to access your Portal das Finanças account.
6. Click on the "Authenticate" button.
Navigate to the appropriate section:
1. Look for the term "Submit Nomination" in the search bar located at the top of the page.
2. Locate the option "Submit Nomination" and then click on "Access."
Choose your fiscal representative
1. Input the Tax Identification Number (NIF) of the fiscal representative you wish to appoint.
2. Tick the box under the "Scope" label..
3. Click the "Start Nomination of Representative" button.
4. Verify the Tax Identification Number (NIF) and name of the fiscal representative you are selecting. If the information is accurate, proceed by clicking the "Confirm" button.
5. Once you have selected your fiscal representative, they will receive a notification to accept your nomination request through their Portal das Finanças account. They will be notified either by mail or email, depending on their Portal das Finanças notification preferences.
Obtain your Certificate of Tax Residence
Once your appointed fiscal representative has accepted your request, you can proceed to follow the provided instructions to obtain a Certificate of Tax Residence (Certidão de Domicílio Fiscal). This document will display the NIF, name, and address of your newly appointed fiscal representative. See an example below for reference.
